Bareroot Fruit Trees are Here -

More Bareroot Arriving Soon!

It’s January and that must mean it’s bareroot season! Our fruit trees have arrived, and ornamental bareroot plants will be arriving over the next few weeks. Check out our e-News & Handouts page for lists of the plants we are expecting.

Take advantage of this great weather and prepare your planting holes now. Bareroot trees like to be planted the same day you pick them up from the nursery, so you’ll be all set to put them right in the ground.

There is an informative article posted on the Gardening Calendar page that shares our recommendations on how to care for your bareroot plants. You might also want to revisit our Tree & Shrub Planting Tips handout at the bottom of our e-News & Handouts page for tips on how big to dig your hole.

Not Too Late for Spring-Blooming Bulbs

We still have a selection of daffodils, tulips, iris and a few other spring-blooming bulbs in stock. There is still plenty of winter chill ahead to ensure good blooms come spring. These make great additions to the garden and the daffodils and iris are deer resistant!

Dormant Spraying

With your fruit trees dormant, now is the time to spray for over-wintering insects and diseases. Check out the Dormant Spraying article on our Gardening Calendar page for more information on how to treat peach leaf curl on peaches & nectarines, and scab on apples & pears.

We wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous new year, and we hope to see you soon!

Happy Gardening!

Fertilize Early Spring Bloomers

Shrubs and trees that bloom in early spring (think Dogwood, Rhododendron, Forsythia, etc.) start forming their flower buds in the fall and winter. Feed them now with the nutrients they need to make better blossoms – zero nitrogen Master Bloom (0-10-10). They will reward your efforts this coming spring!

New Arrivals

Dogwoods, Maples and more nursery stock has arrived over the winter as well as a restock on soil amendments. Visit our New Arrivals page for details.

Seed Starting

If you’re starting to think about starting seeds indoors, we have all the supplies: trays, plugs, heating mats, lights, and seed starting mix.

Wildflower Seeds

Speaking of seeds, we have wildflower seed in stock. Scatter them now and let mother nature do the rest!
